A Wonderfully Preserved Lemania Dirty Dozen WW2 British Military Soldiers Wristwatch in Original Condition with Military Engravings and  Beautifully Aged Lume on the Hour Plots and Sword Hands.

The “Dirty Dozen” watches are very well known within the Military watch-collecting community and are well documented in the watch world. All 12 brands have gained a great following including the present example we have on offer, the Lemania variant among the circa 150,000 watches made, Lemania produced around 8000-10,000 pieces. Classified for “General Service” but issued to special units including radio operators and artillery staff members the “Dozen” are highly sought-after watches by any serious collector. The use of the Broad Arrow on the dial for Government goods goes back all the way to Sir Philip Sidney, Joint Master of the Ordnance in 1585 whose family used the Broad Arrow in its coat of arms.

What’s On Offer

This Lemania is in beautiful vintage condition. All the synonymous hallmarks of the Dirty Dozen watches are present and in particularly good order on this example. The dial is a nice rich matt black and boasts beautifully aged lume on both the original sword hands and the hour plots. The sunken sub-dial at six o'clock is in original condition and the Arabic numerals have been well preserved. The Lemania signature and the military arrow that mark the watch as the property of the MoD, complete the dial which is encapsulated underneath shatterproof Plexiglas and encased in a chrome topped metal case - this is also in good vintage shape. The caseback bears the military engravings one would expect to see and they read Q4458 WWW 919 819.
