A Sophisticated and Elegant Buren 9k Gold Dress Watch - 17 Jewel Caliber 410 Movement - c.1964/65. A perfect gold dress watch. 

The Buren Watch Company was created in 1898. This followed the acquisition of Fritz Suter & Cie, at the Swiss town Büren an der Aare, by the London company of H. Williamson Ltd, producing pocket watches and table clocks of all types. In 1966 the Buren Watch Company was sold to the Hamilton Watch Company and rapidly transitioned to Swiss manufacturing. But the quartz crisis loomed just a few years later and the Buren/Hamilton partnership collapsed. In 1971, Hamilton sold off Buren and all of its assets, and the company was shut down.

What’s On Offer 

A beautiful, understated piece here from Buren, classic lines, elegant proportions, and in beautiful condition. The ivory dial is blemish free and the applied Arabic numerals are crisp and retain their shine. The graceful lozenge hands are also in fine fettle as is the stepped seconds sub-dial. The caseback is engraved as you would expect with any presentation watch and reads 'Imperial Chemical Industries. Presented to J.Hurst. 30 years of service.'

Clearly, the watch has been treasured and looked after by its previous owner who had obviously worked for ICI, and the watch remains in full working order keeping great time. The slender proportions make for a stylish wearer that could easily be worn every day or reserved for a more dressy occasion. A gem!
