Louis Brandt (1825-1879) was a Swiss watchmaker. In 1848 Louis Brandt, at only 23 years old, opened a factory for the production of pocket watches in La Chaux-de-Fonds (canton Neuchâtel). The models produced there first bore his own name, ie "Louis Brandt," on the dial. In 1879 his two sons expanded the workshop into a factory. The caliber "Labrador", having a daily divergency of less than 30 seconds, was developed in 1885 and in 1892 the first watch with minute repetition that strikes hours, quarters and minutes by pressing a trigger was brought onto the market.
