A Nice Looking Vintage Buren Grand Prix In 1960s Vintage Condition, Gold Plated on Stainless Steel and Paired with a Stylish Stainless Steel Milanese Mesh Bracelet. 

Buren Watch Company was founded in 1898 in the Swiss town of Buren an der Aare, Bern Switzerland. During the 1929  financial crash, the company closed and was bought out by English and Swiss management who changed the name to Uhrenfabrik Buren AG.

In 1966 the company was sold to the Hamilton Watch Company. Hamilton production was moved to Switzerland from the US. The Buren/Hamilton company then became part of the SSIH Group in 1971 later in 1983 becoming the Swatch Group. In 1972 Buren was sold with all assets. Today the brand name is owned by the Swiss Watches Editions in Hamburg manufacturing timepieces using old movements and ETA.

This 1960s gold-plated Buren Grand Prix is a beautiful dress watch in excellent vintage condition. The ivory dial is absolutely charming and boasts gold applied arrowhead hour markers, elegant dauphine hands and an applied Buren signature at 12. There is also a central seconds hand and outer seconds track. The dial is preserved underneath Plexiglas. 

The gold-plated case has seen some wear to the edges which gives it a nice vintage look - it is vintage after all! The caseback of the watch is signed Buren and reads 703512. The watch is paired with a rather attractive Milanese Mesh bracelet in stainless steel which actually looks great with the gold-plated case. At 34mm this is a mid-size watch but due to its slim bezel, it does wear larger on the wrist. An affordable first dalliance into the world of vintage watch collecting for somebody maybe? We certainly think its worth a punt!
