The especially dramatic and enduring design concept of the OMEGA Constellation line is characterized by its famous “Griffes”, or claws, and striking dials. One of the things that make the Constellation stand out from the other Omega families of that time, is that the dials on these Constellation models were richly decorated. The use of gold dials, gold and Onyx hour markers, gold hands and gold applied logos and wording is something that wasn’t seen on any of their other collections to this extent. The Constellation was released in 1952 and was named in honour of the Constellation jet that flew during World War 2. Available in steel, yellow gold and rose gold as well as three grades of finishing (Standard, Deluxe and Grand Luxe), the Constellation was Omega's flagship watch from the very beginning.
What's on offer
The watch on offer here is arguably one of the most famous designs to be produced with the Constellation name on the dial. This Constellation model features a stunning silvery brushed effect dial with a date window at the 3 o'clock position and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The bezel, with its engraved Roman numerals and 18K red gold claws, is mounted on a 38mm stainless steel case and is presented on a stainless steel bracelet. At the heart of this timepiece is the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8500, visible through the transparent case back and water resistant to 100 meters when sold!
Dated 11/08/2015 this example is in immaculate condition having been sparingly worn over the last few years with complete box and papers included. The bracelet wears wonderfully and overall the watch doesn’t wear too large on your wrist which further adds to the allure and class of this particular reference which is a 123.20.38.21.02.004.
