The Omega 1953 Fat Arrow watch holds a unique place in horological history, particularly within military circles. Commissioned by the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) in the early 1950s, this timepiece was designed to meet the stringent requirements of military service. Known officially as the Omega RAF 53, it earned its "Fat Arrow" moniker due to the prominent, broad arrow symbol on its dial—a mark denoting British government property.

Produced for only a brief period in 1953, this watch featured a robust stainless steel case and a highly legible black dial with luminous Arabic numerals and hands. Powered by Omega's reliable Caliber 283 movement, it was built to withstand rigorous conditions. The Fat Arrow's design prioritized functionality and durability, making it an essential tool for pilots and navigators.

Today, the Omega 1953 Fat Arrow is highly sought after by collectors for its historical significance and distinctive military pedigree.

What's on Offer

We are delighted to offer this Omega RAF pilot's watch from 1953 for sale in such exemplary condition. The dial has remained in incredible condition given it's age, rich black with bold white Arabic numerals and an outer minute track. The original sword hands still boast the original lume as do the hour plots, all of which has aged beautifully. The case and lugs are still sharp and to the caseback you will note the original military engravings. This watch is running well and keeping good time, it is a very collectable piece a joy to any military collector! A very worthy addition to any collection, especially as numbers dwindle.
