IWC Yacht Club Automatic Calendar - Model Ref: N811A - c.1967
A Well Preserved IWC Yacht Club Automatic Calendar - Model Ref: N811A, with a Subtly Textured Silver Dial, c.1967
The Yacht Club was originally Introduced at the Basel Fair in 1967 and added a dress/casual watch to the brand's portfolio. Alongside the Yacht Club, the Polo Club, and the Golf Club were also released as part of IWC’s ‘Club Series’ in the late 1970s.
While the early Yacht Clubs like this one were powered by IWC automatic movements, they were later replaced by quartz calibres in response to the Quartz Crisis making this a rather lovely find!
What’s On Offer
This 1960s IWC Yacht Club automatic calendar is in well-preserved vintage condition and boasts a beautiful subtly textured silver dial with polished metal baton hour markers with onyx inserts, ultra-slim pencil hands and a date aperture at 3 o'clock. This is a mid-size watch at 36mm but the ergonomics of the contoured integral lugs do make it appear larger on the wrist and superbly comfortable. The dial and case are in nice vintage shape however there is some pitting on the caseback.
This watch would transition perfectly from everyday wear to more formal occasions easily and looks charming on. It is running well and keeping good time powered by the robust IWC 8541, a rare find with a mechanical movement as opposed to the later quartz pieces - we love it!
