Lemania (named for Lake Geneva - Le Lac Leman in French) is probably the most illustrious of the watch manufacturers that have now ceased to exist. Founded in 1883 by self-taught watchmaker Alfred Lugrin, the company has earned a place in the heart of many a vintage watch enthusiast, specialising from the very beginning in making high-quality chronographs, repeaters, and stopwatches.

Lemania was a supplier to various militaries and official agencies, their watches (or sometimes movements only) were provided to Czechoslovakia, France, Sweden, Rhodesia, and Australia amongst others, and they were one of the various companies complying with the rigorous post-WWII British requirements for issue. With such a rich military bloodline, Lemania's military chronographs are exceptional pieces.

What's on Offer

This Lemania chronograph is the quintessence of the pilot watch. Produced for a period of little more than 20 years, from the 50s to the early 70s, in low quantities, there are very around, and certainly not in this exemplary condition!

The rich black dial is in fantastic shape and boasts two sub-dials, Arabic numerals (larger at 12 and 6) and an outer minute track. The dial also includes the military pheon, the arrow which denotes the watch as the property of the MoD. The white string hands still boast their original tritium lume (the circled T denotes this) as do 12 and 6 o'clock and the pips on the hour, this is for visibility in low light. The stainless steel case and lugs are also in tremendous shape given the age and nature of this military tool watch. The case back presents the original military markings we would expect to see which also include the military arrow.
