Military Lemania Singe Pusher Chronograph with a Sterile Caseback

Lemania (named for Lake Geneva - Le Lac Leman in French) is probably the most illustrious of the watch manufacturers that have now ceased to exist. Founded in 1883 by self-taught watchmaker Alfred Lugrin, the company has earned a place in the heart of many a vintage watch enthusiast, specialising from the very beginning in making high-quality chronographs, repeaters, and stopwatches.

Lemania was a supplier to various militaries and official agencies, of their watches (or sometimes movements only) were provided to Czechoslovakia, France, Sweden, Rhodesia, and Australia amongst others, and they were one of the various companies complying with the rigorous post-WWII British requirements for issue. With such a rich military bloodline, Lemania's military chronographs were and still are sure to be exceptional pieces.

What’s On Offer

Dating to the late 50s or early 60s this Lemania single pusher has been kept fairly well but due to it having a sterile caseback, we are unable to identify much about this watch.

As well as the sterile case back, we see other anomalies that we can't explain!

The silver Lemania signed dial consists of 2 subdials with black painted numerals, the dial is also showing obvious signs of wear. We are also unable to identify whether this dial started off life as the non-lumed variant of the same dial made for nuclear submarine Lemania's, due to dark plots featured above the numerals although the hands do contain lume. Looking through a loop it appears that someone may have added lume at some point in time but it does not glow now.

The chronograph seconds hand is also a brilliant red which compliments the colour of the dial excellently, but we feel this is not likely original to the watch. Like in all most of the Lemania Single Pushers, there is the 15TL Calibre movement inside, which is a reliable manual wound chronograph with 17 jewels.

Although the watch appears to be running, it has not been serviced or tested and is offered for sale as seen, as we are selling it on behalf of a watch collector's family who has asked us to help sell an entire collection - this is reflected in the price, still, it is a very nice watch with genuine military significance. The watch however can be serviced by our watchmaker, once you have made the purchase please add a note when placing it in your basket and we will contact you to discuss this. Once serviced the watch will be given a 12-month warranty.
