The Rolex Oyster Royal, introduced in the 1930s, marked a pivotal moment in watchmaking history as one of the first fully waterproof watches. It featured the revolutionary Oyster case, designed to protect the movement from water, dust, and pressure, which was a groundbreaking innovation at the time.

Introduced for a short period of time from c.1951-1953, the 6044 reference features the Super Oyster crown which was developed as an alternative water-resistant crown to the traditional screw-down crown that Rolex had first launched in 1926. 

This beautiful Rolex Royal is in fine vintage condition and boasts a beautifully aged dial featuring natural patina and original lume. The bold Arabic numerals are still crisp and the stylish slim leaf hands add vintage appeal. The dial is encapsulated underneath a shatterproof acrylic crystal and encased in stainless steel. The case and lugs are in good shape too. This is a beautiful piece of Rolex history and is still very much wearable. A joy to vintage watch collectors who appreciate the natural ageing process of watches - a very worthy addition to any collection. 

This watch is offered for sale as seen, as the watches service history is unknown and we are selling it on behalf of a watch collector's family who have asked us to help sell an entire collection. As there are quite a few watches to dispose of, the clients do not wish to spend unnecessary money on servicing each watch before its sold so we have priced the watches to reflect it being sold un-serviced and without a warranty but it can be arranged with our watchmaker at an additional cost if you wish. Once you have made the purchase please add a note when placing it in your basket and we will contact you to discuss this. Once serviced the watch will be given a 12-month warranty.
