This Tudor Prince Oysterdate Submariner with a black dial and Snowflake hands Reference 9411/0 is a wonderful example of one of Tudor’s renowned collector’s pieces. Produced between the years 1975-1983, with this particular 9411/0 ‘Snowflake’ having been made in 1979, denoted by its serial number 9163**.  

Originally designed upon a request from the French Navy (for whom Tudor was manufacturing these watches throughout the 70’s) for a legible underwater dial, the ‘snowflake’ hands have become an extremely collectable variation to the classic Submariner, with this example being no exception. Its square hour index markers have aged to inherit a light, even caramel tone, which together with the light ageing marks on the hands, creates a stunning warm dial full of vintage character. The date aperture at 3 O’clock is easily legible under the cyclops crystal.

The case remains true to itself, and may have been lightly polished historically, but it it still sharp, fat and sleek. The case shows some signs of minor cosmetic marking around the edges as you would expect from a vintage tool watch, but nothing to worry you at all. The black bidirectional bezel is in excellent condition and has also retained the original tritium pip which has also taken on a caramel tone to match the original tritium luminescent markers on the dial and hands. Altogether beautiful. 

An impressive example of Tudor’s iconic tool watches which has survived the attrition that many don’t, this Submariner is now an undeniably collectable and beautiful timepiece. It will be very hard for us to part with this piece, as we have always loved the look once they take on some age and patina, and this is a fantastic one!
