Tudor Oyster Date Manual - Model Ref: 7961 - 1962
A Charming Vintage Tudor Oyster Date with a Beautiful Champagne Coloured Dial in Wonderful Preowned Condition With Rolex Oyster Case and Signed Crown
Hans Wilsdorf, the Bavarian businessman who founded Rolex in 1905, established Tudor in 1946 to produce timepieces featuring Rolex qualities but at lower costs, both companies are owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation.
Tudor Oyster timepieces started to appear in 1946 as manual-wind watches. In 1952, the “Oyster Prince” was introduced. The Prince signified the presence of an automatic movement and was Tudor’s equivalent of Rolex’s “Perpetual”.
What’s On OfferThis is a charming vintage Tudor Oyster Date watch dating back to the early 1960s. The dial, which is a beautiful champagne colour, has been well preserved and boasts applied arrowhead hour markers and elegant leaf hands. There is a subtle date aperture at 3 o'clock and the Tudor signature is at 12. The dial is preserved underneath mineral glass and encased in stainless steel. The caseback engraving reads Original Oyster Case by Rolex and included the Rolex coronet which is also present on the crown. The watch is of slender proportions at 32mm and would suit a smaller wrist. A really lovely watch as it is, it also could be paired with a different colour strap to give it a new lease of life!
