The Tissot Regate watch holds a special place in nautical timekeeping, bridging precision engineering and maritime tradition. Introduced in the mid-1970s, the Tissot Regate was a response to the growing popularity of competitive sailing, where precise timing of starts proved critical. The watch features a unique countdown timer, tailored specifically for yachting, allowing sailors effortless timing of the critical five to ten-minute window before race commencement.

Designed with robust materials to withstand the rigours of the sea while retaining a sleek, stylish appearance, the Regate quickly garnered a dedicated following among sailing enthusiasts and timepiece collectors alike. Tissot ingeniously incorporated a regatta countdown feature, illustrated in this example by the distinct coloured discs which signal countdown stages by changing from blue to red. 

This watch is in superb condition with a beautiful silver dial boasting applied baton hour markers with luminous pips for visibility. The hands also have luminous inserts including an oversized luminous seconds hand. The dial is encapsulated underneath shatterproof Plexiglass and encased in a brushed stainless steel tonneau-shaped case. The watch is meaty in proportions at 40mm wide and 45mm lug to lug, but remains comfortable and is surprisingly light. Unfortunately, the caseback is missing its galleon medallion which is frustrating, however, the watch is in fantastic condition apart from this detail.
