The term "Dirty Dozen" refers to a group of twelve wristwatches commissioned by the British Ministry of Defence during World War II. These timepieces were made by twelve different Swiss manufacturers: Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex. The watches were designed to meet strict military specifications for accuracy and durability in combat conditions.

Produced between 1944 and 1945, each watch featured a black dial with luminous hands and numerals for readability in low-light situations. They also had a sturdy stainless steel case and shatterproof crystal. These features ensured reliability in harsh wartime environments.

What's on Offer

This is a stunning example of the Timor Dirty Dozen watch and has been incredibly well preserved. The dial remains rich black with all of the hallmarks we would expect ti see including bold white Arabic numerals, a recessed sub-seconds dial at 6 o'clock the military pheon - an arrow on the dial that denotes the watch as property of the MoD. The original is still intact and has aged to a beautiful light pumpkin colour across the hour plots and in the original hands. The case and lugs remain sharp and on the case back you will note the original military markings. We have paired the watch with a military-style leather strap. This is a very collectable piece and we are delighted to offer it for sale in such delightful condition.
