In 2023 it will be 60 years since the first Carrera hit the market, a sporty timepiece created in 1963 by Jack Heuer whose name, if you’re among the very few not to be aware of it, resembles the Carrera Panamericana, a legendary endurance race back in the years that have nicknamed the most famous large scale sports car ever. 

The TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 36 Flyback, was first unveiled back in 2013 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Carrera and features a legendary, customized  Zenith El Primero chronograph movement with a fly-back function. Not many people are aware of this collaboration between these two brands that are both owned by the same LVMH, parent company.

A nice piece of kit at 43mm, this 2016 Carrera Calibre 36 Flyback is in superb preowned condition with barely any signs of wear. The dial is pristine with hand-applied indexes at the edge of the beautiful anthracite sunburst dial, which boasts two polished, luminescent and shortened hands. Red accents on the tips of the counter hands correspond with the red tip on the needle central seconds hand and the Calibre 36 signature, all of which add to the sporting aesthetic. There is a subtle date aperture at 6 o'clock and on the reverse of the case,  a display back which is a really nice feature. The dial is encapsulated underneath mineral crystal and is encased in stainless steel, and is paired with its original stainless steel bracelet with TAG signed folding clasp. Style meets substance here with plenty of functionality combined with classic TAG styling, a real gem, and the watch was serviced by a master watchmaker who served his time working on Tag Heuer’s whilst at LVMH Group for many years before going independent! So rest assured you won’t be disappointed with this extremely well cared for watch.
