A Rare Military Issued Smiths W10 With Dual Army and Navy Markings. Issued is 1968, in Fantastic Condition with Original Tritium Lume
Smiths were the last surviving British watch company to manufacture watches entirely in the UK. The W10 aviators' timepieces are the most iconic of these, being issued from the late 60s until the company closed.
What’s On Offer
This Smiths W10 is in absolutely beautiful vintage condition, the stark black dial is blemish-free and boasts brilliant white Arabic numerals, the broad arrow denoting the watch as the property of the MoD, the Smiths signature and T emblem - for tritium. The hour plots and hands still present the original tritium lume and it has aged evenly across the to a beautiful caramel colour adding a delightful warmth. The Made in England at 6 o'clock is a nice addition from Smiths. The stainless steel case and lugs are in great shape with very few notable marks of wear and certainly nothing of concern. This watch would have initially been issued to the British Army but was subsequently re-issued to the Royal Navy, this is denoted by the '0552' engraving added to the markings on the case back - this makes is slightly rarer than its counterparts and is a superb point of interest for any military enthusiast.
