What’s On Offer
This Smiths aircraft clock was produced in post-war Britain in 1953 and was more than likely featured in the cockpit of a Vulcan or Hawk Hunter jet. It is fitted with an original Smiths instrument reference plate to the back which denotes code 5 ACA and its reference number as 6A/2089 and its serial number as 3712/53. It also boasts the military Pheon, denoting it as the property of the MoD.
The synonymous black military dial is blemish-free and contrasts perfectly with the bold quarter Arabic numbers and outer minute track which have also survived remarkably well. The lumed indices, numerals and hands have aged evenly and taken on a beautiful pale vanilla colour over the years. The elegant cathedral hands and central seconds hand both look well and the dial is completed by a subtle Smiths signature at 6 o'clock. The bezel is fixed and is fitted with a cog that must be pulled out to set the time. Recently serviced by our watchmaker, this clock is running well and keeping good time - it would be great looking desk or dashboard clock for any military enthusiast.
