Military Style Vintage Rolex Trench Watch with 9 Karat Gold Case circa 1939

Rolex, an emblem of precision and prestige, has a rich history that dates back to 1905. Founded by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in London, the brand initially operated under the name Wilsdorf & Davis. It wasn't until 1908 that Wilsdorf trademarked the name "Rolex," seeking a moniker that was short, easy to pronounce in any language, and elegant on watch movements and dials.

The Trench watch (wristlet) was a type of watch that came into use by the military during World War I, as pocket watches were not practical in combat. It was a transitional design between pocket watches and wristwatches, incorporating features of both.

A rather appealing trench-style watch with a Champagne (Rolex Marked) dial, Arabic numerals and seconds subdial which all come together beautifully to create a unique-looking timepiece. The hex case design is rather significant and made from 9-carat yellow gold.

The inner caseback is engraved with gold hallmarks and original import markings denoting it was imported to London. The serial number also tells us it was approximately manufactured in 1938.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to retrieve a movement calibre from this watch but the movement is marked Rolex and is fully working. It has not been serviced before this listing and we are selling it as seen for a client of ours, if you do wish for it to be serviced prior to purchasing wed be happy to do that for you for an additional cost. These circumstances are reflected in the price.
