A Fantastic and Rare Rolex Air King Date, Model Ref: 5700, in Beautiful Vintage Condition, Fully Serviced and Spa  Polished, c.1966

At its release in 1945, the Rolex Air-King was part of a collection of Air watches that included the Air-Lion, Air-Tiger, and Air-Giant, but the Air-King's reign outlasted the others. As with many of their other models, the Air-King was designed with a particular type of person in mind, in this instance, pilots. The Rolex Air-King Reference 5700 was introduced in 1958 for Commonwealth markets, production lasted into the 1980s.

The Rolex Air King Date is an elusive yet sought-after reference as it has a much smaller production run than its non-date counterpart. Produced intermittently over the years, this reference was last produced in 2016, however, this example is one of the earliest runs and dates to 1966 so it has a wonderful vintage at nearly sixty years old! Of course, all vintage watches have their nuances and this particular piece has taken on some slight speckling on the dial - this could mean the watch has the potential to turn totally tropical in the future, but that may be a way off yet! It is running well and looks great having recently undergone a spa polish and full service. A beautiful and rare piece that wears beautifully and has lots of charisma.
