With its highly legible black dial, tough, durable, and corrosion-resistant, Oyster case in steel with the solid link Oyster bracelet and waterproof capacities, the Rolex Explorer I is a reliable, high-performance timepiece -  even in the toughest of conditions hence the 'Explorer' name.

This pre-owned Rolex Perpetual Explorer (Model Reference Number 214270, from 2013) is a self-winding automatic wristwatch with a 39mm stainless steel case boasting a handsome black dial with signature Rolex Mercedes (professional) hands. 

The watch is powered by the robust Rolex 3132 self-winding movement, offering a 48-hour power reserve and COSC-Chronometer Certification. This watch has applied white gold indices which are generously lumed with Rolex’s blue Chromalight lume. The baton-shaped indices are also complemented by the famous Explorer, Arabic, '3, 6, and 9' at the quarter hours, which are all in applied white gold, and in this 'Mark I' dial variant, of the dial, there is no lume in the numbers! The bezel is polished, as are the sides of the case and the links.

As photos should show, this watch is in excellent condition. There is no evidence of it having been worn on the case body itself, and it has been well cared for. The chronometer, caliber 3132 is a real workhorse and features Rolex’s Parachron Hairspring (less susceptible to magnetic fields) and Paraflex Shock Absorbers (more resistant to shocks).

This reference is easily distinguished from its predecessor thanks to the use of a shorter handset (the minute hand does not make it to the minute track) and metallic, non-luminous markers for 3, 6, and 9.  With production spanning only five or so years, this is a notable reference that is now very collectible and has been discontinued.
