A Stunning Vintage Rolex Dress Watch in Original Condition with a 9k Gold Dennison Case with Matching Lug Numbers.

Rolex SA is a British-founded Swiss watch designer and manufacturer based in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1905 as Wilsdorf and Davis by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in London, England, the company registered the word 'Rolex' as the brand name of its watches in 1908, and it became Rolex Watch Co. Ltd. in 1915. After World War I, the company moved its base of operations to Geneva because of the unfavorable economy in the United Kingdom. In 1920, Hans Wilsdorf registered Montres Rolex SA in Geneva as the new company name (montre is French for a watch (timepiece)); it later became Rolex SA. Since 1960, the company has been owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, a private family trust.

1950’s Rolex – solid 9k Gold ‘Dennison’ 30mm case, produced in Birmingham (confirmed as per hallmarks). Beautifully aged vintage dial with an interspersed array of Arabic numeral and arrowhead hour markers. There is a mild, yet deep golden tone to the watch on the dial where the original radium in the hands has matured slowly. These marks are most prominent at 8.20 where the hands had stood still for many years while the watch sat unused in a sock drawer, though we see this as an enhancement, not a defect to the watch’s aesthetic and testament to its fantastic condition not having been used for many years.

Although the case measures in at only 30mm, the straight edges give it added prominence which, together with the chunky bezel, add to an oversized feel relative to the diameter.

This watch came to us by way of a regular contact who purchased the watch from the original owner in our presence. This is fundamentally a one-owner watch from new, so rest assured this watch has really been taken care of by its one careful owner.
