Omega Seamaster Calendar - Gold Plated - Model Ref; 2849/2 SC11 or 315.164 - c.1956
A Beautiful and Unusual Seamaster Calendar in Steel and Gold Plate with a Stunning Black Dial and Gold Applied Furniture, Dated to 1956
The Seamaster is the longest-running product line still produced by Omega. It was introduced in 1948 and was based upon designs made for the British Royal Navy towards the end of World War II. The original Seamaster's key feature was an O-ring gasket used to provide its waterproof seal.
What’s On Offer
This is a beautiful example of a vintage Seamaster, fairly unusual too with its black dial, framed date aperture and elegant Dauphine hands in yellow gold. The applied Arabic numerals alongside the arrowhead markers on the hour plots also add a touch of finesse! This watch is dated to approximately 1956, so its unsurprising that the dial has developed some attractive patina - these are the details that give vintage watches their undeniable charm! The dial is completed with an applied Omega emblem and the Seamaster signature. This watch pre-dates the Omega Hippocampus that we see on the caseback of Omega Seamasters produced after 1958, instead, it is simply engraved Seamaster.
This is a beautiful watch with an opulent colourway than would lend itself well to all manner of occasions, an elegant design that will simply never go out of style.
