Introduced in 1932, the Omega Marine was one of the earliest waterproof wristwatches and the first to be officially tested and certified for diving. In 1936, it was tested by immersion in Lake Geneva to a depth of 73 meters. By 1937, the model demonstrated its ability to withstand a pressure of 13.5 atmospheres.  The Omega Marine holds a fascinating and significant place in the evolution of the wristwatch during the 20th century.

What's on Offer

This watch might be small but what it lacks in size it certainly makes up for in charisma! The small jewel-like dial is encapsulated within a beautiful stainless steel tank case and boasts ornate hands, Arabic numerals and a square chapter ring.  The watch features a unique two-part construction: the inner case, housing the dial and movement, is glazed at the front and slides into the outer case. These two parts are securely clamped together with a substantial clip on the outer case back. Notably, the outer case is fitted with a sapphire crystal, an early application of this material in wristwatches, advertised as nine times stronger than glass. The mesh style bracelet in stainless steel is in nice order and looks beautiful on, albeit a more slender wrist. This is a beautiful timepiece that would make a treasured gift or a worthy asset to any vintage collection - we love it!
