The history of the Constellation line is very rich, it's one of Omega's oldest collections. The name stems from Omegas chronometer observatory-based testing. Observatory testing typically lasted for one to two months and contained accuracy tests that were possibly more taxing than modern-day methods.

Still, part of the Omega lineup today, the Constellation remains the pinnacle of the Omega dress watch collection with many grand and prestigious models having been released and enjoyed since the models' inception in 1952.

This 18k solid gold Constellation is utterly charming with its blemish-free solid gold linen textured dial, applied gold baton hour markers with Oynx inserts, elegant pencil hands with corresponding inserts and a gold-trimmed date aperture at 3 o'clock. An applied gold Omega signature sits proudly at 12 o'clock whilst the Constellation with its synonymous star emblem is at 6 o'clock.

The C-shaped case with a brushed satin finish is in superb shape with only very light signs of wear - barely noticeable under the naked eye. The nomenclature “C-Shape” is derived from C the third letter in the alphabet; the design being the third iteration of the Omega Constellation collection, and the case shape and lugs resembling two letter Cs: one a correctly formed C - the other its mirror image. The design of the C-Shape Constellation reflected an emerging trend in the early 1960s toward bigger watches and this example is substantial at over 36mm. The solid gold case back features the Constellation Observatory emblem, and this is also in excellent and sharp condition.
