Omega Constellation 18k Gold and Solid Gold Dial (OM Marked) - Milanese Mesh Bracelet - c.1966 - Original Box and Purchase Receipt
A Beautifully Opulent and Rare Omega Constellation in 18k Gold with Milanese Mesh Bracelet, Sold with Original Box and Purchase Receipt, c.1966
Named after the eight stars emblazoned on its crest, the Constellation was launched by OMEGA in 1952. Because of its high-quality construction and unfaltering precision, the Constellation quickly became known as “the Swiss watch”
What’s On Offer
The epitome of the gold dress watch here from Omega. The Constellation has many variants but this elegant gold example is simply stunning. Exuding opulence yet boasting sophisticated chic lines, this is the perfect dress watch and at mid-size proportions it would suit both men and women. The dial is actually also solid gold (OM Marked at 6 o'clock) and is blemish-free boasting applied onyx-filled baton hour markers and super-slim black pencil hands. The dial is completed by the Omega and Constellation signatures. The (Shackman) gold case bears the Constellation observatory emblem on the back with the synonymous 8 stars. There are slight signs of wear to the caseback but nothing of real concern. The mesh bracelet is in nice shape and wears beautifully, closing on a discreet Omega Clasp. This watch is sold with its original box and purchase receipt. A really beautiful watch with lots of character, it will simply never go out of style.
"After a fifty-year relationship with Omega U.K. Dennison was replaced as Omega’s principal precious metals case maker by David Shackman & Sons of Chesham in 1968. Shackman continued to produce cases for Omega until the Eighties, but many cases were imported directly from Switzerland when the Gold Standard was dropped in the Seventies.
While it is not uncommon to encounter a Shackman case housing calibre 564 Constellations of the later nineteen-sixties, chancing upon a calibre 712 model 167.5435 (shown below) is a far rarer experience."
