Omega Dynamic Geneve Automatic Date - Unishell Case - Model Ref: ST 166.0081 - c.1969
A Very Cool Omega Dynamic Automatic Geneve Date, Model Ref: ST 166.0081 With a Two-Tone Silver Dial and Unishell Case, c.1969
The Dynamic is one of the more unique collections comprising some rather off-the-wall designs that reflected perfectly the spirit of a generation. Originally created for the Prix de Ville de Genève in 1965 and launched to the public in 1968, the Dynamic was initially housed in an elliptical case but there are various case and dial iterations in the collection which was discontinued in 1979. There was a brief reprisal in 1984 but it was very short-lived.
What’s On Offer
Whilst the Dynamic collection wasn't produced for a long time, its impact on the world of horology has been long-lasting and influenced watch design when we look at brands such as Swatch.
This is a really nice example with a really cool dial configuration. The retro TV case presents the two-tone silver dial really well. Applied baton hour markers with luminous pips frame the outer perimeter and a date aperture sits at 3 o'clock. Sporty black and white hands with luminous inserts and a central seconds hand in zesty orange complete the dial. The case is in excellent condition with only minimal signs of wear. The watch is paired with an integral leather tropical rally style strap as it would have been originally sold with. This is a fantastic piece, very retro and tres chic! Definitely one for the cool kids!
