Lemania Two Register Chrono - CH27 - Beautiful Silver Dial - c.1950s
A Beautiful Lemania Chronograph with an Exquisite Silver Dial, Powered by the Iconic Lemania CH27, c.1950s
Lémania was founded in 1884 by Alfred Lugrin (1858 – 1920) who had gained his initial watchmaking experience at Jaeger-LeCoultre in Le Sentier. From the beginning, he specialized in the production of chronographs, stopwatches and repeaters.
Lemania produced some incredible chronographs for adaptation by other brands (including Omega) or for military use. They also produced some very elegant watches in their own right such as this example powered by the much-celebrated Lemania CH27 which was used in the Omega Speedmaster when it landed on the moon - what a pedigree. Enhanced versions have also been used by Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and Audemars Piguet historically. Enhancements included column wheel caps, chronograph drive wheels mounted between pivoted bridges, extra jewels or end-stones and free-sprung balance wheels
What’s On Offer
This 1950s Lemania chronograph (besides being powered by an iconic movement) is a beautiful piece with a stunning silver dial in magnificent condition with bold Arabic numerals, recessed chrono counters and a punch of colour with the tachymeter scale. The dial is exquisite actually - the photographs do not do the silver justice to be honest. The watch is encased in stainless steel which has the usual slight signs of wear from a watch over 60 years old, but certainly nothing of concern! The caseback is engraved with 8006. The watch runs well and looks beautiful on the wrist - it is paired with a tan ostrich strap, a classic pairing.
