HEUER AUTAVIA 2446C GMT - VALJOUX 72 MOVEMENT - PEPSI BEZEL
A fantastic untouched, original and rare to find in this condition, "Second Execution" Heuer Autavia GMT model reference 2446C. Being the Second Execution it is the "C", compressor snap-back case.
The snap-back again is the correct plain back with no engraving apart from a very faint remnant of semi-circles that were engraved on the outer edge. This engraving on the outer edge of the case back has faded with time and wear but can still be seen through a loupe.
This model is the sought after Pepsi bezel. It has a lovely original lightly faded red and blue rotating bezel that is a great looking colour and in excellent condition with minimal wear and marking.
Original and correct fluted pushers.
This example has a beautiful original dial with minimal amount of patina on the luminescent markers. The red tips on the hour and minute hands are in great condition as are all the red paint on all the hands and the dial. The tip of the red GMT hand has a lovely dark caramel colour to it. Overall it is one of the nicest Autavia dials that we have come across. Again as you would expect from the second execution models it has the correct Serif print on the dial and a smooth finish. Also as it should be on the later executions it has the slightly larger white sub-registers and smooth, sloping bevels to the inner circular ridges and the printing is a lot finer than the first executions. No "T" on the dial and a larger "SWISS" font which again is correct and perfectly legible.
The watch is finished off on a fantastic period, 9 row brick link steel NSA watch bracelet which, in itself is in great condition and looks brilliant and in keeping with a watch of this style and period. These bracelets are a rarity in there own right.
To summarise, this is an excellent example of an original 1960's Heuer Autavia GMT 2446C, with an all important unpolished case and nicely faded bezel, original dial, hands and luminescent markers.
Although the watch is running well and keeping time etc. The centre seconds hand is not going back to dead centre at the moment so for your and our piece of mind the watch will go off to a Heuer trained watch maker for a complete strip down and service as the watch has not been used for some time and is in fact a very reluctant sale on our part, so be quick before we change our mind.
