Enicar Sport - Steel Cased Watch with Rare Enamel Dial - c.1940s

This item has now sold

***NOW SOLD***

A charming and striking 1940s Enicar Sport, with a signed white enamel dial which is quite rare and unusual for this period and brand!

This Enicar Sport watch has a pretty unique feature that is still only prevalent on more high end watches, however, is unusual in this case as enamel dials were rarely used after the 1930s for a mid range watch such as this one.

This watch would make a superb addition to any collection as well as being an appealing everyday wearer.

What’s On Offer

The dial is in original and very good condition with a barely visible hairline crack on the dial at 4 o'clock. With nicely aged radium lume in the blued steel, syringe hands, and a typical red sweep seconds hand. The stainless steel case is signed inside the screw down case back with Enicar Watch Co as is the movement. The unpolished original steel case is also in excellent condition.

We purchased this watch from a pretty serious military watch collector and enthusiast who had owned the watch for a good number of years and says that when he originally purchased the watch from an auction, he recalls it arriving with a very old swing tag tied to one of the lugs on the watch with string and the label had the words "Bletchley" on it but he cannot recall exactly what else it said and the label was unfortunately misplaced and then lost over the years! So we will probably never know if this watch was possibly worn by a "code breaker" as a timepiece, but still an interesting thought!

We have paired this watch with a military style NATO strap, however, this can be exchanged for leather if preferable.
