Eberhard & Co - Silver Cased Trench Style Watch - Breguet Numerals - Articulated Lugs
A Charming, Eberhard & Co Trench Style Watch With A Silver Hallmarked Case, Blued Steel Hands and Breguet Style Numerals.
Eberhard & Co manufacture was founded on 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the historic birthplace of the Swiss watchmaking industry, by George-Emile Eberhard. Eberhard was the son of a prominent Bernese family tracing its origins back to the 10th century, which was involved in the development of the Swiss watchmaking industry. His father, early on, initiated him in the art of watchmaking and Eberhard was only 22 when he founded the company.
What’s On Offer
A rather delightful trench style watch crafted from (925) silver with an interesting dial boasting a central recess and a small seconds recessed dial at s 6 o'clock. The Arabic numerals are Breguet style and are still very much intact as is the Eberhard & Co signature. A particularly nice detail, the ornate blued steel hands are in great shape and complete a charming dial which has aged to a pleasing deep ivory colour.
The silver case sets the dial off perfectly and gives the watch a real quality feel with rather lovely fluted detailing around the mid-case. The articulated lugs allow for a slim strap to be fitted, which would look beautiful on the right wrist. The case back is elegantly engraved with 'Olive', an endearing touch and one that suggests this watch has at some point been a treasured gift. It certainly looks like it has been taken care of with no major signs of wear. A charming timepiece which we are offering for sale as seen, possibly requiring a service and a little TLC.
We are unable to locate a caliber number on this watch however from our research it looks like it was produced in the 1920s, if you can shed any light on this please do get in touch.
