CYMA WWW - A Soldiers Issued - Dirty Dozen Military WW2 Watch - c.1945
A WW2 Cyma Dirty Dozen Watch in Original Condition With Beautifully Aged Lume and Original Military Markings.
In the closing years of World War II, a basic but carefully specified model wristwatch was commissioned to members of the British armed forces by the Ministry of Defence - one of twelve watchmakers chosen to manufacture them, Cyma delivered 20,000 of these watches to the MoD in 1944 and 1945. The twelve watches later became known as the Dirty Dozen.
What’s On Offer
The Cymas are the largest in size of the Dirty Dozen watches at 38mm - they still look great on the wrist even after over 80 years! This is a really nice example and bears all the hallmarks we expect to see on a DD watch - stark black dial, bold Arabic numerals and recessed seconds dial at 6 o'clock. This dial has retained its original lume which has aged to a beautiful pale butter colour on both the hour plots and on the original sword hands which gives the dial a beautiful warmth and vintage look. The case and lugs are also in good shape and on the caseback, you will see the original military markings denoting this watch as property of the MoD - they read: WWW P 7256 12256 and the Military arrow is present on both the dial and caseback. This watch is running well, keeps good time and is supplied with our 12-month warranty. A joy for any military collector!
