Bulova Accutron Diver's watch with date. Powered by rare 'tuning fork' movement technology, pioneered by Bulova.

Bulova was founded and incorporated as the J. Bulova Company in 1875 by Bohemian immigrant Joseph Bulova.[3] It was re-incorporated under the name Bulova Watch Company in 1923, and became part of the Loews Corporation in 1979. Bulova began developing Accutron in 1952. Accutron is to be an electronic watch that will be guaranteed accurate to within 2 seconds a day, or 1 minute a month. The secret behind this inherent accuracy will be a tuning fork which will divide each second into three hundred and sixty equal parts.

Also noteworthy is the inclusion of an Accutron movement. Bulova pioneered Accutron tuning fork technology, and instead of opting to go with a tried and true automatic movement like every other skin diver of the era, they elected to utilise a technology that’s not typically associated with skin diver watches. This particular watch doesn’t wear too chunky which is ideal and a signature of skin divers from this period. The 2 tone bezel is vibrant and eye catching with the red tone carrying over to the indices at 6,9 & 12 o’clock.

What's on offer

The condition of this piece is remarkable and all original. The crown at 4 o’clock works really well on wrist and accompanied with the red stitch strap, this wristwatch is a joy to wear and easy on the eye. The dial is crisp and legible with the baton indices which means this watch is a rarer variant in comparison to the “Devil Diver” which is seen more often on market. This watch is one of the most attractive vintage skin-divers we have had and from a notable and well established brand such as Bulova.
