A Wonderful and Rare Vintage Men’s Rolex Gold & Steel GMT Master Wrist Watch with Black ‘Nipple Dial’  - Ref. 1675/3 - c. 1974

This Rolex stainless steel and yellow gold Oyster Perpetual GMT Master wrist watch has a yellow gold bi-directional rotating bezel with original black bezel insert and features the rare and much sought after 'T Swiss T' - ‘nipple dial’ also in black (earning this cheeky nickname for its raised gold hour markers) with luminous inserts!

Following the success of the original Rolex GMT master, launched in 1954, the brand introduced this model as its successor in 1960 (with model reference no. 1675) and this version remained in production until 1980.

The chunky, two tone gold and steel case is complemented by an original integrated gold and steel Jubilee bracelet with folding clasp, and the watch also features a date bubble at 3 o’clock, along with a Mercedes style hour hand. This particular model was probably originally sold in Mexico and comes on its original dual signed 14kt gold and steel Mexican Jubilee bracelet which was made under licence for Rolex and signed 'Hecho En Mexico - Joske's' and has the 'Big Logo Crown' on the clasp. These bracelets on their own command a premium due to there rarity! 

The piece has lug serial number 403xxxx, movement number D75xxxx, and is engraved with the number 1675 on the inside case back.

A rare piece of history from the Rolex brand, this statement watch would make an unusual addition to any collection, or simply an eye-catching timepiece for those who appreciate timeless quality and exquisite craftsmanship.

This stunning watch is in super overall condition for its age. It has its original dial, date wheel with flat 3 and open 6 & 9, original black bezel insert as can be seen from the font, and correct twin lock crown. There are no original papers or box with this particular watch but we can at an additional cost supply a genuine and period correct vintage Rolex box and as standard we will also supply the watch with a Vintage Watch Specialist leather pouch.
