Vintage 1969 Drivers Edition, Omega Chronostop Model Reference 145.010 Calibre 920

Omega was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Over the years, Omega has achieved several milestones, including being chosen as the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games since 1932 and being the first watch worn on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.

Omega is perhaps best known for being the official timepiece of NASA and the first watch worn on the moon. The Omega Speedmaster Professional, known as the "Moonwatch," accompanied astronauts during the Apollo missions, earning its status as an iconic timepiece in space exploration history.

What’s on Offer

Here we have a very unique piece from Omegas History, the Chronostop Drivers Dial Model Reference 145.010. The purpose of these watches was for racing drivers to be able to read their times easily at high speeds without having to remove their hands from the steering wheel and is supposed to be worn on the inside of the wrist rather than on top, it is also why the dial is turned to 90 degrees giving it its distinct look. These watches are highly collectable due to their cool and distinct look. You would find it hard to find a better example than this particular watch as it is in superb condition.

The solid stainless steel case has kept its shine but does have light signs of wear and some very small marks on the left side of the case. This includes the caseback which has minor blemishes. The mint, dark grey dial boasts orange accents and adds some great character to the watch without taking away classiness. You can also see a finish line like track marker going around the watch which nicely nods to the racing history.

The Omega Milanese mesh bracelet is the original bracelet that came with this watch and is also in very good condition and has a lovely, discreet engraving on the inside of the clasp, so it can't be seen when on the wrist. It was a 21st birthday present for the lucky original owner!

This watch also comes with a vintage red Omega box as photographed but this is not original to this particular watch as they came with a different style of box.
