Genex was a Swiss watch brand active in the early 20th century, often associated with the wider network of companies connected to Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex. It is believed the name was used for more accessible watches, offering reliable Swiss movements at a lower price point. While the brand itself remained relatively low-profile and short-lived, Genex pieces are now of interest to collectors for their links to early Rolex-era watchmaking and understated design.

What’s on offer

A wonderfully characterful piece from the late 1920s, this Genex Silver Hallmarked wristwatch captures the transitional charm of early wristwatch design. The faceted tonneau case sits beautifully on the wrist and offers an elegant profile.

The dial is a real highlight—finely textured with bold, stylised Arabic numerals and a classic subsidiary seconds dial. The ornate, period-correct hands add another layer of charm, perfectly complementing the decorative layout. It has aged gracefully, with just enough softness to remind you that it is a near-century-old piece, without losing its clarity or appeal.

Inside, a 15 jewel manual movement keeps things traditional and true to the era.

The case itself carries Edinburgh import hallmarks dating to 1925–1926, with the MWL mark of Marcel & Willy Leuba, an important name in early Swiss watch case supply. This confirms the case was Swiss-made, imported to Britain, and hallmarked before final assembly.

Genex is widely believed to have been part of the broader Wilsdorf network, adding an extra layer of intrigue and collectability.

A rare and honest early "Rolex Family" wristwatch—full of charm, history, and wrist presence.
