A Well Preserved Lost Navi 6BB RAF Issued Pilots Watch from 1976 with Original Military Markings

Approximately 2000 pieces of these sterile dial watches were produced, which are of monobloc construction to the tonneau-shaped case and still pose a mystery in horological circles after years of discussion! Most attribute the “Lost Navigator” watches to Hamilton as CWC didn’t take over the production of wristwatches for the armed forces until around the ’80s. Yet, Hamilton’s were used up until around the mid 70’s so the “Lost Navy’s” were issued between the terms of both manufacturers.

Only issued in 1976, the dials are sterile or anonymous with no brand name under the usual noon position.

What’s On Offer

As with many military watches, this example presents a stark black dial with bold Arabic numerals in white. The hour plots maintain their tritium luminescent coating for improved visibility and this is denoted by the T marked on the dial at 12 o'clock. The sword hands also boast their original lume. At 6 o'clock you will note the military arrow, this marks the watch as the property of the MoD, and a central seconds hand completes the picture. The dial is encapsulated underneath shatterproof Plexiglas and is encased in stainless steel.

The watch has been very well preserved with very few notable signs of wear and to top it off we have had it serviced by the infamous John Senior who specialises in military watch repairs and servicing. The caseback bears the military markings we would expect to see: 6BB-6645 99-5238290 012/76. This is a particularly nice example of the Lost Navi, the mystery and intrigue that surrounds these watches has piqued both military and vintage enthusiasts over the years and they have become extremely sought after and collectable. Could this be the next addition to your collection?
