A Charming Orient Orient Grand Prix Swimmer with a Beautiful Silver Sunburst Dial, c.1960s
Orient Watches, founded in Japan in 1950, has a rich history rooted in precision, craftsmanship, and innovation. The company's origins can be traced back to 1901 when Shogoro Yoshida opened a wholesale watch shop in Tokyo. This venture gradually evolved, leading to the establishment of the Orient Watch Company.
In its early years, Orient quickly gained recognition for its high-quality timepieces. The brand was known for producing reliable and affordable mechanical watches at a time when wristwatches were becoming increasingly popular. In 1951, the release of the “Orient Star” marked a significant milestone, showcasing the company’s dedication to blending functionality with elegance.

Paired with a black leather strap, this watch embodies timeless style and functionality. A great buy and a nice introductory piece for novice collectors.
This watch is offered for sale as seen, as the watch's service history is unknown, and we are selling it on behalf of a watch collector's family who has asked us to help sell an entire collection. As there are quite a few watches to dispose of, the clients do not wish to spend unnecessary money on servicing each watch before it's sold so we have priced the watches to reflect it being sold unserviced and without a warranty. Still, it can be arranged with our watchmaker at an additional cost if you wish. Once you have made the purchase please add a note when placing it in your basket and we will contact you to discuss this. Once serviced the watch will be given a 12-month warranty.
