A Charismatic Vintage Pierce Chronogaphe Cal 134 with a Beautiful Sepia Dial from the 1940s.

The Pierce Watch Company was founded in Biel by Leon Levy in 1883. The company had gone from strength to strength from its foundation and employed 1500 people by 1910. The Royal Air Force awarded a contract to Pierce to develop and construct of the pilot's watch “Flight Calendar”. Pierce was incredibly efficient with their production techniques and unlike watch brands of the period, Pierce developed and manufactured their own watch movements for their timepieces. Whereas many similar-sized brands or even bigger companies sourced movements from notable manufacturers such as Valjoux, Landeron & Venus to name a few.

What’s On Offer

The Pierce Chronograph was marketed as a 4-in-1 watch as it includes both tachymeter and telemeter scales. The telemeters were calibrated to either miles or kilometres - in this case, kilometres, you can see the KM at 12 o'clock. The dial is a nice arrangement of sub-dials with Arabic numerals and blued steel hands with a nice pop of red on the chronograph hand. The angular syringe hands do have some remaining lume and it corresponds with the lume on the Arabics. The dial has actually aged beautifully and has taken on a lovely sepia colour that gives it that real vintage feel. A unique feature of the reversed operation of pushers, where the reset pusher sits on top.

This watch is incredibly charming and increasingly rare in such nice condition and has a great price point. Of course, it wears beautifully and is running well - what not to love!
