Superb Vintage Gigandet Chronograph Divers “Wakmann” featuring Calibre 248 Movement circa 1970s

Gigandet is now a German brand that was once owned by Wakmann a partner of Breitling for the sole purpose of creating top-quality chronographs.

Gigandet met their demise with Wakmann during the quartz crisis, but have since been resurrected and are now based in Germany Producing watches as a sole entity.

This is a vintage Gigandet chronograph from the 1970s that was released to the European Market under Wakmann, Brietlings distributor to the US who also sold watches under their own brand names. Now very popular amongst collectors due to its timeless but cool design aspects.

This watch looks amazing, the incorporated orange seen in the hands and subdials gives a nice pop of colour but is not too flashy. The hour plots have also weathered to appear a lovely pumpkin colour tying in nicely with the solid black dial and subdial variation.

The black bezel does appear to have minor wear which is only normal for its age but also gives this watch a really nice vintage diver feel without being oversized whatsoever. Light scratching and blemishes are present on the case but is nothing major and does not take away from the beauty of this great watch.

The internal mechanics of this watch include the Landeron Calibre 248 moment containing 17 Jewels and a power reserve of approximately 41 hours.
