Exceptional Tissot T12 Super Compressor Automatic Divers on a Gay Freres Bracelet Circa. 1970

Tissot, the renowned Swiss watchmaker, has a rich and fascinating history that spans over 160 years. Established in 1853 by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile, the brand has consistently been at the forefront of innovation in the watch industry. In its early years, Tissot focused on producing pocket watches with precision movements. The company quickly gained a reputation for excellence and accuracy, winning numerous awards for its craftsmanship.

In 1915, Tissot created its first wristwatch, revolutionizing the way people wore timepieces. The brand continued to innovate and expand throughout the 20th century. In 1930, Tissot merged with Omega to form the Société Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogère (SSIH). This collaboration allowed both companies to share resources and expertise while maintaining their individual identities. During World War II, Tissot played a vital role in supplying reliable watches to various armed forces around the world.

Their timepieces were praised for their durability and accuracy in challenging conditions. In the late 20th century, Tissot cemented its position as an industry leader by introducing several groundbreaking innovations.
