A Beautifully Aged Tissot Sonorous Alarm Watch Produced in 1959

Tissot, the renowned Swiss watchmaker, has a rich and fascinating history that spans over 160 years. Established in 1853 by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile, the brand has consistently been at the forefront of innovation in the watch industry. In its early years, Tissot focused on producing pocket watches with precision movements. The company quickly gained a reputation for excellence and accuracy, winning numerous awards for its craftsmanship.

It appears as though it was purposely made for this watch but believe it or not, this once-silver dial has beautifully aged into a gorgeous mango-like colour. This is due to a process called topicalization, warm climates can cause watch dials to shift in colour over long periods giving them a unique 1 of 1 design. This dial in particular has come to suit the watch perfectly, it gives it a lovely pop of colour against a silver steel case and ties in nicely with the gold arrowhead markers. Another exciting thing about this watch is that it has an alarm function, meaning an additional hand on the dial allows you to set an alarm time at which the watch will vibrate. It is a fascinating addition to this already exciting piece.

The condition is also superb, the 33mm stainless steel case has surprisingly retained its factory shine over this long period and only minor light scratches and blemishes can be found but it is very light and mostly unnoticeable.
