A Very Rare and Collectable Swatch 'Last Week, Next Week' (Model ref: SAM404), Automatic Calendar, in New Old Stock Condition, Sold with Original Box, 1996

Swatch, the renowned Swiss watchmaker, has a rich and fascinating history. It all began in 1983 when the Swiss watch industry faced a crisis due to increasing competition from Japanese quartz watches. In response, Nicholas G. Hayek came up with a revolutionary idea to create affordable, fashionable, and high-quality watches that would capture the attention of young consumers. The first Swatch collection was launched in 1983 and instantly became a global sensation.

These colourful and trendy timepieces were made using innovative manufacturing techniques that reduced costs without compromising quality. Swatch watches quickly gained popularity for their affordability, durability, and unique designs. In the years following its launch, Swatch continued to innovate and expand its product range. They introduced special editions collaborating with renowned artists like Keith Haring and Mimmo Paladino, further enhancing their brand image.

Swatch is still very popular today and has recently collaborated with horology giants Omega and Blancpain.

What’s On Offer

This 'Last Week, Next Week' model is the epitome of the fun and energy Swatch entwines throughout its designs. The transparent case design allows you to see the inner workings of the watch and the sporting yellow date wheel lends a real pop of colour along with the magenta jewels of the movement - it also means you can see the date last week and next week - little things! Lumed stick hands rotate the dial and allow visibility in low light. The case back is also transparent which is another fun detail and you can see the movement is automatic with 23 jewels. The watch is dated to 1996, the golden era of Swatch I would say. This is a cracking watch, a real throwback for those of us who grew up in the 1990s, it is in superb condition and sold with its original box.
