A Stunning 1960s Heuer Carrera Dato 45 Chronograph - Model Ref: 3147S - in Stainless Steel With a Beautiful Silver Sunburst Dial, in Fantastic Original Condition. 

Heuer Watch Company was founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer.  He opened a watchmaking workshop in St-Imier, a village in the Swiss Jura region.  Heuer watches soon became recognized for a high level of accuracy and workmanship. Perfect for the timing of sporting events Heuer soon found its niche. 

In 1963 HEUER introduced the Carrera chronograph. Three years later, in 1966, Heuer introduced the Carrera "Dato 45." It was one of the very first wristwatch chronographs to feature a rotating date disc. An advertisement ran in 1969 and 1970 promoting the Heuer Carrera Dato 45 as "ideal for the businessman who needs a chronograph but can never remember the date."

Offered for sale, is a classically sporting Heuer Carrera Dato 45 Chronograph in Stainless Steel, Model 3147S. The 'S' in the Model Reference Denoting Silver Dial - and a stunning dial it is too; the blemish-free silver sunburst has been wonderfully preserved and boasts polished metal baton hour markers tipped with lume for visibility in low light, the pencil hands also enjoy a beautiful vanilla lume which has remained intact. A central seconds hand, a recessed register at 3 and a date aperture at 9 o'clock complete a truly beautiful dial, not forgetting the Heuer signature at 12. A mid-size watch with classic lines, the slim bezel gives the illusion of a larger dial and as such it wears beautifully on the wrist. This is a preowned watch from the 1960s, so there are signs of wear but they are barely visible to the naked eye - it has clearly been very well taken care of over the decades. A stunning vintage watch any collector worth their salt would very much enjoy. We will be sad to let this one go for sure!
