This rare and sought-after Orfina Porsche Design 'Maverick' watch is in excellent condition. A very similar watch was worn by Tom Cruise in both the very first Top Gun film, and again in the 2022 Maverick movie. 

This iteration boasts the Lemania 5100 movement making it rather more desirable than the model with the Valjoux 7750 - although both are great watches.

The Lemania 5100 is a legendary workhorse of a movement, constructed from stamped steel, delrin plastic, and other simple materials. It was designed to compete with emerging inexpensive movements from Seiko and others, and to be cheap to assemble and service. It is an automatic chronograph like the contemporary Valjoux 7750 and features a similar “6-9-12” arrangement of subdials. One important difference is that the Lemania 5100 has chronograph minutes on the central axis along with chronograph seconds, giving watches using this movement a distinctive “four-handed” look.

The watch has plenty of functionality including a Day/Date Function at 3:00 and chronograph functions at 12:00, 6:00, and 9:00 - 24hr, 12hr and 60 seconds. The dial is in fantastic condition, rich black with luminous hour plots boasting original lume which has aged to a beautiful deep vanilla colour. The punchy orange second's hand lifts the dial offering a sporty/utility aesthetic. 

The case is crafted from stainless steel and coated in black PVD. The bracelet is a replacement for the original and is also steel with PVD coated. 

This is a fantastic piece of kit and looks great on the wrist, at 42mm it is a meaty watch yet light and comfortable on the wrist.
