A Very Rare Omega Split Second Rattrapante Chronograph Pocket Watch with Case Marked Marconi London circa 1960s

Omega's involvement in the Olympic Games dates back to 1932 when the Swiss watchmaker was selected as the official timekeeper for the Los Angeles Olympics. This marked a significant shift in sports timing, as Omega introduced groundbreaking precision with its chronographs. Over the decades, Omega has continually advanced timing technology, including innovations like photoelectric cells and quantum timers. The brand's commitment to accuracy and reliability has cemented its reputation within international sports.

What's on Offer

Here is a beautiful Omega split-second chronograph watch and timing device, also known as the 1932 Olympic Timer. This particular watch has one unique anomaly, it has been marked with a plaque stating it is the property of Marconi Company Limited London, a historic British telecommunications and engineering company.

After doing some research we have come to find that this configuration of the 1932 Olympic timer was the commercially available model and not an Olympic. We believe that the Marconi company purchased this watch for specialist timing purposes during the 1960s.

The condition is almost immaculate displaying only very light signs of wear to the case and the dial is like new old stock. The dial is made up of 2 sub-counters at 12 and 6 with accents of red and blue steel hands. The red case not only has protected and allowed the watch to remain beautiful over this long period. The watch is truly stunning and the dial in particular is still very sharp, vivid, and faithful to the watch's original condition.
