Vintage 1980s Omega Seamaster 200 ‘Pre-Bond’ Professional Men’s Diver’s Watch.  Model 396.1042-1.

The Omega Seamaster 200 ‘Pre-Bond’ model was so-named as the next model in the enduringly popular series of high-performance men’s sports watches, the Seamaster 300, featured a range of James Bond themed editions.

This chunky yet elegant men’s wrist watch has a stainless steel case with integral stainless steel bracelet, an eye-catching gold bezel with black bezel insert and a gold inlaid Omega symbol on the clasp fastener.

This watch is not only pleasing to the eye but an  impressive piece of kit for the amateur or professional diver. The extension on the bracelet allows it to be worn comfortably over a wetsuit while the double safety lock ensures it stays put.

The reverse of the casing is engraved with the instantly recognisable Omega Hippocampus (sea-horse), denoting that the watch is waterproof and part of the brand’s waterproof range.

The watch is completely original with all the normal traits of a 1st generation pre-Bond, including the Mercedes style hour hand, luminescent inserts in the hour, minute and seconds hands and original gold Omega crown.

This piece is sold with its original box but without any original paperwork. 

The watch shows some signs of light wear, commensurate to its age (dated to the late 1980s), but is in overall good condition, with the bracelet relatively unstretched.
