A Superb WW2 Omega Air Ministry 6B/159 Pilot’s Watch In Superb Condition, 1943

Produced by a number of world-class Swiss watchmakers, including not only Omega but Longines and Jaeger LeCoultre, 6B/159 models were issued to both navigators and RAF pilots during World War II however Omega was the primary supplier of watches to the RAF. Before radar and GPS, timekeeping was crucial when it came to the position of the aircraft and it was up to the aircraft navigators to provide accurate information.

What’s On Offer

This watch is in very nice condition, especially considering its age! The dial has aged beautifully to a rather lovely sepia colour and boasts the usual Arabic numerals we expect to see on military watches. A simple Omega signature and elegant blued steel hands complete the dial which is encapsulated underneath shatterproof acrylic crystal and encased in alloy duralumin - it may have been polished at some point as it does have a slight sheen, however, that is not anything we are concerned about and the caseback does have the original military engravings which read: 6B/159 A29416 along with the pheon which denotes the watch as the property of the MoD.

These watches are becoming rarer by the year, particularly in fantastic condition like this one, so now is the time to acquire such a piece of British military history while there are still surviving examples!
