A Handsome Lucerne Vintage c.1960's Calendar Stainless Steel Watch with Date Feature

Lucerne Watch Co was in fact an agent and assembler of watches, NOT a manufacturer! They were also not based, as the name might suggest, in Lucerne, Switzerland but in fact in New York City from what we can gather...anyway, on to this stunning example of this lesser-known brand!

What’s On Offer 

This "Swiss Made" Lucerne Calendar watch,  c.1960s,  with world time multi-directional bezel is a handsome everyday wearer. The black dial, which is in stunning condition, is a nice contrast to the applied hour markers and lumed hands along with the Arabic numbers at 12, 9, and 6, which have all taken on a beautiful buttery hue.

The outer seconds' markers are crisp as is the Lucerne signature and Swiss Made marking, but what really attracted us to this watch is the shape and colour of the "spearhead" hour markers and the oversized arrowhead tip on the hour hand and a smaller equivalent on the second's hand! The inside caseback is engraved with 'Swiss Watch Co. of America. 1314' which bears out what we said about Lucerne being based in NY! 

The crystal and case show minor signs of wear, only to be expected from a watch of this age and certainly nothing significant. This is a really nice-looking throwback to the ’60s with great proportions that keep it contemporary and is a comfortable and stylish watch for everyday use, what collectors term "a beater". 

The watch runs, but intermittently, so will require servicing and is therefore sold as is with NO GUARANTEE, 'AS IS'.
