Longines (Long Meadows) was founded in Saint-Imier in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz, a Swiss watchmaker and brother of biologist Louis Agassiz. Auguste had two partners, lawyers Henri Raiguel and Florian Morel; the company's original name was Raiguel Jeune & Cie.

You simply cannot go wrong with a gold dress watch from Longines. This vintage piece is in fantastic condition and its sophisticated simplicity is a thing of beauty. Elegant lines, simple styling and an opulent gold finish offer a subtle yet debonair timepiece that will see the wearer from everyday casual to more formal occasions quite seamlessly. The watch is mid-sized at 35mm in modern-day terms, however when it was produced it would more than certainly have been considered oversized or even jumbo, the Calatrava style makes it appear much larger on the wrist. The ivory dial is fine shape with no notable marks or blemishes and the applied gold furniture along with slender gold pencil hands and applied Longines emblem complete the picture. A simple yet effective design that will never age.
