A Stunning Lemania Mono Pusher Asymmetric Case, Mk III, Caseback Reference: 6BB/924-3306 1184/62, Caliber LMC 2220, Inside Caseback 35-72 Issued: 1962. Excellent condition, a Real Historical Gem.

This Lemania chronograph is the quintessence of the pilot watch. Produced during a little more than 20 years, from the 50s to the early 70s, in low quantities, it features a mono-pusher mechanism based on the Lemania 2220 movement. Its black dial and large tritium hands make it very readable and the thick asymmetrical case adds a touch of coolness to the overall aesthetic.

The dial displays the broad arrow sign, used to indicate the property of the British Military, and the 'T' sign, indicating the presence of tritium on the dial and hands. The caseback is engraved “6BB” (Royal Airforce code), “924-3306” (type of watch), “460” (service number), and “62” (released in 1962).

Lemania was a supplier to various militaries and official agencies, their watches (or sometimes movements only) were provided to Czechoslovakia, France, Sweden, Rhodesia, and Australia amongst others, and they were one of the various companies complying with the rigorous post-WWII British requirements for issue. With such a rich military bloodline, Lemania's military chronographs were sure to be exceptional pieces.

What’s On Offer

The present watch was issued by the British RAF in 1962 and features a unique asymmetric polished stainless steel case that provides some protection to the crown and pusher. The matte black dial is in impeccable condition and the lume on the hour markers has aged to an appealing vanilla hue. The syringe hands are in fine fettle with lume intact. The outer rail track, Arabic numerals signatures, and synonymous arrow markings are all very crisp and with the subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock, complete a very handsome dial. The unpolished case is in incredible condition bearing in mind the watch's age and its intended use, and the substantial dimensions make for a contemporary wearing watch with the additional asset of being steeped in history from a renowned watchmaker world-famous for its military ties.
